Hi everyone, I’m Lily’s sister, Lilian. I’m from Singapore and I am in the interior design business.
I am also a ‘main con’ (main contractor), that is, I help people build houses. Though my company is not large, the projects that I handled were over $1 million, and the Singapore Indoor Stadium was one of my past projects.
In 2014, my company was awarded projects for a series of kindergartens, and the running of these projects was being handled by a staff who has been with the company for a long time. I don’t know what went wrong, but these kindergarten projects resulted in a $500,000 loss for my company.
That was in 2014. Thereafter I took on another two projects, both of which I was unable to collect payment from. These problems were caused by the same employee (who handled the kindergarten projects).
And in 2015, I was only able to achieve 20% of the business that I used to do. Not only was I in debt, to make matters worse, I was not able to bring in any new business. That was when my business hit rock bottom.
Sometime between December 2014 and January 2015, I had to stop drawing a salary from the company.
I used to draw a very substantial salary in the high 5-figures, and live a luxurious lifestyle. Though I was not extremely wealthy, I liked expensive things. I drank thousand-dollar red wine, and travelled by First Class. So when my business deteriorated to the point when I could not afford to pay myself a salary, it was a very difficult time for me.
I even felt stressed when I met my friends for a meal. Our meals would cost more than a thousand dollars, and since we have always gone Dutch, each person’s share would be a few hundred dollars, which I could not afford. So I ‘hid’ from my friends. Since I did not, and didn’t know how, to tell my friends about my situation, I chose not to go out with them.
Then I got to know about ‘The Pen,’ and that ‘everything comes from me.’
Not only did I know that ‘everything comes from me,’ I accepted that ‘everything comes from me.’
I know that I have to change me – my views, my patience. I must change. I have to learn to listen to others and not just expect others to listen to me without interruption. I also learned that to achieve business success for myself, I have to do the ‘opposite,’ that is, I have to go in the ‘opposite direction.’
Of course, we all do good deeds. I have always been generous with gifts. But I needed to do more than that.
For example, previously when I came across potential projects that were not suitable for me, I just rejected them instead of sending this customer to someone else. Mainly because I felt that if I introduced this business to someone else, I have a responsibility to make sure that it turns out well, and I didn’t want that kind of trouble.
But after knowing the Diamond Cutter System, I am no longer afraid of this type of responsibility. And so I introduced business to someone else in my industry. Not only did I send the business his way, I even offered him the use of my office space, and got my designer to help him draw up design plans. When he was having financial difficulties, I told him that he did not have to worry about paying me rental, and only to do so when he can afford it.
Remember that this was the same time that my business had hit rock bottom, and my accounts was already in the negative, so it was difficult for me to pay the rent myself.
But I put my faith in the Diamond Cutter System.
On 12 December I attended a Diamond Cutter Workshop, and from this Workshop I learnt about Coffee Meditation, about how to behave and treat others, and that ‘everything comes from me.’
There were many things that I have done since the workshop, but the most important is that I helped my ‘enemies’ – that is, my competitors, people from my industry. For example, I helped a competitor close deals, and with his design plans.
There is another incident that I would like to bring up: one of my staff left my company to set up his own business, and he called me when he had trouble with debt collection. Not only did I give him tips on how to go about doing his collections, I even offered to go with him to help him out! And I also reassured him that if he needed a lawyer, I would introduce him to one. I even offered to loan him some money if he was short of funds, even though I didn’t have much money myself either, I still helped him out.
And just last week, I closed 2 deals on the same day. I have been following up on these two deals since May of last year, but they were always ‘stuck.’ I don’t know why, but I just could not get these contracts signed. But since I started doing things the Diamond Cutter way, the contracts got signed easily, without any hard bargaining.
For one of the deals, I got the figure that I wanted, and it was a 6-figure deal!
The second deal is a 5-figure consultancy at the moment, but the second part of the deal is a million dollar contract.
And the interesting thing is that I was also awarded with another million dollar contract!
Now in the design industry, it is considered very good deals if we can achieve more than 30% profit margin on any project. These few projects that I got recently are not the type of jobs which I am unsure if they will turn out to be profitable. In fact, I am very confident that they will all generate more than 30% profit for my company.
So while I was previously ‘dying,’ having thrown in all my savings and seeing no way out, I am now seeing an improvement in my business after experimenting with the Diamond Cutter System. I also see that because I have changed, my life has changed, my environment has changed and I also see changes in my employees’ attitudes.
The Diamond Cutter system really works.
I would like to thank all the teachers who have selflessly given us their time and effort and shown great confidence in us. Of course, I would also like to thank my sister, Lily, who not only spent money and effort, but also had to chastise me, in order to get me to embrace this system.
