The Hole - my special space. Here’s how I use The Diamond Cutter, which I first found in an airport bookstore & read over & over on a long flight to the United States for company consultations. I don’t watch TV or read the newspaper at home. Instead I do this practice that the Tibetan wise people call Penpa Tang: Setting the Day. Every morning, before the others in my family wake up I go to a quiet place in my house for 30 minutes. This is my personal silent time. My family calls this place The Hole, and nobody comes or interrupts me.
I watch my breath flow in & out by counting from 1 to 10 again & again. This practice cleans up my mind & allows me to focus my attention to discover solutions for any problem I am having. I see my entire work, my family & my health reflected in the quality of my mind. New ideas come up to solve my problems, one after another. I see an entire new life begin every day when I have finished the morning meditation.
I keep a small notebook, the 6 Times Book from The Diamond Cutter, with me all the time; there are 6 time slots. I stop & write in my 6 Times Book faithfully. I focus on those business problem (-) and their real solution I have done (+), & I include a special to-do item for the coming hours.
Using these principles that I learned from The Diamond Cutter has greatly affected my life & improved my ability to be successful & happy, both at home & in my career.
